You don’t have to visit too many CrossFit boxes in the Tampa Bay area before you’d run into the CrossFitting Chiropractor, Dr. Jesse Law. We caught up with “Dr. Jesse” recently to catch his thoughts on Beauty is a Beast II, where he’ll be available to athletes, and CrossFit in general.
What made you decide to give CrossFit a try?
I injured my back following the typical 3-month bodybuilding program when I was 21-years-old. I thought I would never exercise again because of my low back pain. I stumbled upon CrossFit online after months of laying on the couch. My life changed for the better from then on.
How long have you been doing CrossFit?
I have been doing CrossFit for almost 6 years.
Did CrossFit stick? Or, did you leave and come back at some point?
I became addicted to CrossFit the moment I started. I never missed a workout.
What have you noticed about your health now that you’ve been doing CrossFit?
I’ve noticed that I can more easily maintain a low body fat percentage thanks to CrossFit. I have less low back pain and my mobility is better than ever.
What’s your advice to people new to CrossFit?
Accept yourself for who you are. We all come in different shapes and sizes. Have fun and grow with the community!
How do you balance running a business and CrossFit?
CrossFit has been integral to developing my business thus far. I have a much easier time marketing myself to athletes because I consider myself one. All of my gym owners are receptive to my services and the value it brings their business.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I regularly meditate, visit the beach and read in my spare time. Life is all about balance – a healthy mind breeds success in all other ventures.
What’s your favorite and least favorite things about CrossFit?
Favorite thing? Snatches. My least favorite are thrusters and cardio.
What are your thoughts on BIAB II?
I am a full supporter of Women’s Empowerment Weekend. It will be exciting to watch strong women compete in powerlifting, Strongwoman and CrossFit.
What can CrossFitters and spectators expect from you at BIAB II?
I will be available for treatment at my tent both days of the competition. Feel free to stop by with any questions about how chiropractic and my services in general can benefit your performance!
Anything else we should now about you and BIAB II?
CrossFit has improved the quality of my life ten fold. As a doctor, I am dedicated to giving back to the wonderful community that has shaped my life so far. Athletes: have fun and leave it all on the floor! Spectators: cheer your friends and family on!
